Dydine Umunyana’s Bio
Dydine Umunyana is the founder of Umuco Love Foundation, a survivor of the Rwandan Genocide against Tutsis, a human rights advocate, and a revered public speaker. Powered by a light spirit and attitude, Dydine has emerged out of a trauma filled life as a brilliant example of the power of the human spirit to overcome. She is a community leader, a champion of human rights, and tireless educator of young people.
Dydine Umunyana is an Ambassador for Aegis Trust, a published author, a documentary filmmaker, an NGO-founder, and a committed advocate for at-risk women. Underpinning these activities is Dydine’s devotion to bringing a relevant and authentic connection to diverse audiences.
Since April 2013, Dydine has been a Youth Peace Ambassador for Aegis Trust in Rwanda. Subsequently, in 2015, she became a Global Mentor for Peace at Serve to Unite, an organization that cultivates peace through creative service learning and global engagement. A lack of dialogue too often prevents youth from sharing their stories and understanding their shared histories. Through her work, Dydine hopes to inspire more openness in order to build a lasting peace through a more inclusive society. She has recently completed talks at the Museum of Tolerance in LA, Cornell University, Harvard University, Facebook, Google, USC, Temple Beth El, and High schools and so on.
